The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and Pride star, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will be on the spotlight on UFC 130 as he takes on the Ultimate Fighter alumnus and high caliber wrestler, Matt “The Hammer” Hamill this Saturday, May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rampage was originally set to take on the Brazilian powerhouse, Thiago Silva, but due to a failed drug test, Silva was waived out of the fight and was replaced by Matt Hamill.
This will be a classic battle between a striker and a grappler with Rampage being the striker and Hammil being the grappler. Rampage was also a former wrestler but more known in his MMA career as a knock out artist. Hamill on the other hand has also improved his striking skills. Hamill has victories over Mark Munoz (KO head kick), Tito Ortiz (decision) and Keith Jardine (decision).
Also in the main card is the battle between the former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Frank Mir and Ultimate Fighter Season 10 winner, Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Mir is coming off a KO victory over Mirko Crocop while Nelson’s last fight was a unanimous decision loss against Junior dos Santos.
