One of the two bases where marines are being trained in America is Parris Island, South Carolina. It is where they train raw recruits to become an elite fighting force of America. At present, thousands of marines are fighting in Southern Afghanistan. However, thousands more are needed because US President Barack Obama is sending 30,000 troops more to be propelled as front liners.
Annually, Parris Island produces 22,000 new marines. As part of their training which spans in about 13 weeks, the recruits are required to swim weighed down with helmet, kit and rifle. After graduation from the training, they will go for a specialist training followed by a combat unit. Those are pretty interesting activities. But I won’t trade those for a lazy afternoon in my room!
