The fourth installment of the Mission: Impossible movie series is scheduled to be seen in cinemas on May 2011. And to lead the production crew will be the director of Pixar animation hit, The Incredibles, Brad Bird.
According to Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise, everything has been signed. He emphasized that Brad Bird, who he sees as enormously talented, will be directing the upcoming action film. This is the first live action movie that Brad Bird will be handling. Aside from the Incredibles, Bird has directed several animation films such as The Iron Giant, Jack-Jack Attack and Ratatouille. The big question is, how will he deal with a live action movie? He needs to set aside his animation skills on this one.
Just recently, it has been confirmed by Paramount Pictures that Tom Cruise will be taking on the lead role in the fourth Mission: Impossible movie. Co-producing the movie will be Mission: Impossible III director JJ Abrams. The first installment of Mission: Impossible in 1996 was directed by Brian De Palma, who was known for his thriller and suspense films. Mission: Impossible II (2000) was directed by Chinese film director and Hong Kong based producer John Woo. Woo directed the 1997 action movie Face/Off that starred John Travolta and Nicholas Cage.
Bird will have his hands full but let’s hope that he pulls out a well crafted movie since directing a blockbuster film isn’t an impossible mission after all.
